New York, NY, United States, 2012/08/29 - George R. Hearst III has been elected a testamentary trustee of the trust established under the will of William Randolph Hearst. The announcement was made today by Frank A. Bennack, Jr., CEO of Hearst Corporation and a current trustee - Hearst.com.
Hearst, 57, publisher of the Albany Times Union, a director of Hearst Corporation and a great-grandson of William Randolph Hearst, fills the trustee position previously held by his father, the late George R. Hearst, Jr., who passed away on June 25.
Hearst Corporation is owned by The Hearst Family Trust. Among other responsibilities, the 13 trustees elect members to the Corporation's Board of Directors.
With Hearst’s election, the trustees of The Hearst Family Trust are: James M. Asher; David J. Barrett; Anissa B. Balson; Bennack; John G. Conomikes; Ronald J. Doerfler; Lisa Hearst Hagerman; George R. Hearst III; William R. Hearst III; Gilbert C. Maurer; Mark F. Miller; Virginia Hearst Randt; and Steven R. Swartz.
Prior to being named publisher of the Times Union in 2009, Hearst was vice president, associate publisher and general manager of the Times Union since 2006, where he provided leadership to the strategic development and marketing areas and information technology departments. Prior to joining the Times Union in 1989, Hearst held a variety of positions in finance, advertising sales and operations at Hearst Newspapers in San Francisco and Los Angeles. Hearst is a graduate of Pepperdine University in Los Angeles.
