Lafayette, IN, United States, 2012/08/21 - Inventor Robert Goldsberry has retained AmiCOUR’s licensing team to help his novel industrial spatula reach new markets - AmiCOURIP.com.
AmiCOUR IP Group today announced that it has entered into an agreement with Lafayette inventor Robert Goldsberry to help commercialize his patented spatula for cylindrical containers. The invention was developed to reduce the waste of industrial chemicals and coatings sometimes costing hundreds of dollars per quart and often creating environmental hazards if left in containers. Examples include automotive paints and resins, high performance adhesives, epoxies and plastics, pharmaceutical chemicals, special lubricants, and other industrial reagents.
“We decided to reach out to local inventors in Lafayette, searching for clever new ideas that could be commercialized,” explained AmiCOUR CEO Scott Bechtel. “We discovered Bob’s patented spatula among dozens of candidates, and learned that it has already a proven itself a success locally. This invention will be licensed to a producer to manufacture, market, and distribute worldwide. AmiCOUR will find candidates positioned to do this.”
Goldsberry’s patented spatula has square corners capable of reaching the bottom inside edge of cans along with a lateral scraper to pull material down the side of a cylindrical container and over the lip. “When people use it with a quart paint can, they notice how easily the remaining paint is pulled over the lip of the can,” explained inventor Goldsberry. “All viscous materials adhere to the sides and bottom, sometimes leaving several ounces which won’t pour out on its own. Some automotive paints and hardeners can cost more than $10 per ounce. People are surprised how much paint, and money, is recovered when they use my spatula.”
The company said it plans to license the patent to a producer qualified to serve a variety of commercial markets in addition to the automotive coatings industry. Bechtel explained,“This is the classic case of a simple idea being a great idea with a compelling value equation. It’s a better mouse trap. Without it, missed profits and material heading to landfills are significant. Our preliminary market research even discovered special insurance policies for companies who use certain chemicals. This could be another driver for market demand. It makes sense that certain exotic chemicals trigger special waste handling procedures and insurance risks. The simple answer is to use them up rather than throw them away. Bob Goldsberry invented a better way to do this.”
