Los Angeles, CA, United States, 2006/12/12 - CSCC is holding a conference, March 22, 2007, to address the challenge of achieving sustainable improvements to supply chain labor conditions.
Cal Safety Compliance Corporation (CSCC), a leading provider of responsible sourcing solutions, will host a conference on March 22, 2007, in Los Angeles, to tackle the dilemma that brands and retailers face in establishing sustainable solutions to substandard supply chain labor conditions. “It’s been 15 years since stories about child laborers first outraged consumers worldwide,” says Rachelle Jackson, Director of Research and Development for the company. “And yet, substandard labor conditions continue to persist. Brands and retailers are looking for new ideas and more innovative solutions that really get to the root cause of the issues and bring sustainable results.”
In response to this need, the conference will feature intimate and highly focused forums where CSR practitioners can exchange ideas on current hot topics within the world of responsible sourcing, as well as expert panels and workshops that will bring together professionals from different viewpoints and industry sectors. The conference will take place in Los Angeles, with the specific location to be announced in the new year. To maximize participants’ experience at the conference, audience size is being limited to around 50 people.
The conference will examine the strategies that brands and retailers can incorporate within their responsible sourcing programs to improve the efficiency and efficacy of their supply chain improvement efforts. “There are so many conferences out there about CSR,” Jackson acknowledges. “But the topic of responsible sourcing tends to get diluted in some of those larger conferences. And that’s unfortunate since our market research indicates that CSR practitioners believe that there is so much more to discuss when it comes to building capacity for sustained improvements to supply chain labor standards.”
“We want to pick conference topics that are relevant to the current responsible sourcing climate,” adds Cara Chacon, Director of Training and Education. “We are working on putting together sessions on responsible purchasing and socially responsible investments, for example. Those are hot-button issues right now and CSR practitioners want to know how to build these concepts into their programs and appeal to more ethical consumers.”
