Launched in May 2012, Mollie Makes has revolutionised the handmade magazine market, and already has over 50% market share. Mollie Makes smashed Future’s launch subscription record, with print subscriptions currently on track to be over 11,964 for the next issue (15).
On sale now, the birthday issue comes with a free digital download of Issue 1 via Apple Newsstand, a special birthday subscription offer where subscribers can get three issues for the price of two, and also comes with a free 52-page wedding special ‘Let’s Get Hitched!’
Produced in association with Etsy, the ‘world’s handmade marketplace’, the wedding special is packed with inspiration from real-life funky retro, vintage and rustic-themed nuptials. Working with Etsy, the Mollie Makes editorial team highlighted their favourite Etsy crafters and sellers for each theme.
The magazine is currently shortlisted for a PPA Award in the ‘Specialist Consumer Magazine of the Year’ category with the winner due to be revealed on 20th June, and also received a Highly Commended award at the recent Media Pioneer Awards.
A craft magazine with a difference, Mollie Makes has tapped into a strong and growing trend for contemporary handmade craft, appealing to a younger generation of crafters, with many of its readers under 35. Mollie Makes has over 25,000 Facebook fans and almost 10,000 Twitter followers engaging with the brand regularly.
Mollie Makes has also recently signed a deal with Anova Books for the first in a series of brand extensions, to create a range of Mollie Makes-branded craft books. The first title, Mollie Makes Christmas, will be published in October, priced at £9.99.
Group Publisher Kerry Lawrence says: “It’s been an incredible first year for Mollie Makes and the success of the launch is the result of a truly talented and committed team who have all played their part in delivering a unique and exciting new brand to the market.”
“We’re taking some exciting steps towards extending the Mollie Makes brand to an even wider audience, so watch this space for some great new developments from Mollie Makes in year 2.”
The birthday issue of Mollie Makes is on sale now, priced at £4.99. Digital editions are available on Apple Newsstand and on Zinio, and readers can subscribe online via MyFavouriteMagazines.co.uk.
