Boston, MA, United States, 2012/05/15 - Lingo24, the Boston and New York-based translation agency, has just announced a million-dollar contract with one of America’s major technology suppliers.
Founder and CEO Christian Arno says: “We are delighted to secure this contract. It’s the biggest we’ve ever had and it is a huge step for us.
“The initial phase, worth $1million, will take six months to complete. It is a highly complex project involving translation into three European languages and subsequent phases will be worth up to $6million.
“More and more US companies now understand the value of foreign language internet marketing, and the potential to take advantage of growth in emerging markets. This company is no exception.”
Mr Arno originally made contact with the company through a chance meeting at the South-by-South-West Interactive festival in Austin, Texas in 2011.
Lingo24 set up American operations in 2008 with five employees. This has now grown to 25, and its sales grew by 75% in 2011. As one of the fastest growing translations agencies in the world, Lingo24 made The Times Fast Track 100 in the UK last year.
Lingo24 (lingo24us.com) provides high quality translation in all major business sectors, with clients including MTV, American Express, Orange and World Bank. Last year, the company translated around 55 million words across hundreds of language combinations.
Mr Arno, an Oxford University graduate, originally launched Lingo24 in 2001 from his parents’ spare bedroom in Aberdeen, Scotland. It was set up to offer web-based translations, 24 hours a day, with the support of offices in other time zones.
It now operates across four continents, with hubs in Europe, North America, Asia, and Australasia. Turnover in 2011 was $9.4 million; projected turnover for 2012 is $13 million.
