Doral, FL, United States, 2012/02/16 - Conference Features Faculty from Brazil, Italy, Japan, Switzerland, Estonia, Australia, and the U.S - ISSPORTH.org.
World renowned hand surgeons, therapists, athletic trainers, and other sports related professionals from all over the world gathered on U.S. soil on February 7, 2012 for the first time ever to discuss the most ground-breaking research and latest technologies that are in the introduction stage of use, worldwide, to treat common sport specific injuries of the upper limb.
This specialist-specific ISSPORTH (International Society for Sport Traumatology of the Hand) Medical Symposium is essential to the world of sports because many of the most common upper limb sports injuries that have traditionally caused the abrupt endings to the careers of athletes (especially in baseball, basketball and golf) are now sure to be minimized, if not avoided altogether with some of the industry’s latest, most cutting-edge technologies.
Dr. Badia, world renowned hand surgeon, President of ISSPORTH, and former surgeon for the likes of Kobe Bryant, Rajon Rondo and Mike Miller and a roster of others, is the doctor behind the global mission to inform and to eradicate hasty endings of the careers of talented athletes across every arena.
The doctor affirms that through his involvement in ISSPORTH he will continue to promote Miami-Dade county and the City of Doral as a medical tourism destination. “The understanding of orthopedic issues has greatly increased within the athletic world. ISSPORTH aims to further that knowledge, and I plan to bring this message home to Miami, by focusing on a little mentioned area of anatomy; the hand and wrist.”
Dr. Alejandro Badia, MD, FACS is a hand and upper extremity surgeon at Badia Hand to Shoulder Center in Doral, Florida. He studied physiology at Cornell University and obtained his medical degree at NYU, where he also trained in orthopedics. He runs an active international hand fellowship, serves on the editorial board of two hand journals, and organizes a yearly Miami meeting for surgeons/therapists that is devoted to upper limb arthroscopy and arthroplasty. This international meeting is held at the world renowned Miami Anatomical Research Center (M.A.R.C.), the world’s largest surgical cadaveric training lab which Dr. Badia co-founded in 2005.
