Chelmsford, MA, United States, 2012/01/16 - Four-channel AXIS Q7424-R withstands vibrations, shock and extreme temperature; Features include intelligent video, PTZ support, audio and advanced compression - Axis.com. NASDAQ OMX: AXIS
Axis Communications, the world leader in network video, introduces the AXIS Q7424-R Video Encoder, a ruggedized encoder that enables flexible migration of analog cameras to an IP-based video surveillance system in tough environments. With a design to endure vibrations, electrical shocks and extreme heat, the new video encoder is ideal for demanding applications such as traffic monitoring, city surveillance, airport terminals and railway stations.
The field-hardened AXIS Q7424-R encodes one to four analog video sources and provides outstanding performance by leveraging the benefits of digital network video surveillance technology. The video encoder supports key IP surveillance features such as full frame rate (30 fps) multistream H.264 and Motion JPEG compression per channel, two-way audio, edge storage with the built-in SD/SDHC memory card slot and Power over Ethernet (IEEE 802.3af). Furthermore, the video encoder features a 1 Gbps small form-factor pluggable (SFP) slot for single and multimode fiber connection as well as an Ethernet port.
“We’ve made great strides in our video encoder portfolio to provide high-quality and cost-effective IP video migration options for analog users, specifically for segments like retail with the recent launches of the P72 and M70 Series Video Encoders,” said Fredrik Nilsson, general manager, Axis Communications. “The ruggedized AXIS Q7424-R takes the next step to provide an analog-to-IP conversion strategy for security practitioners in the city surveillance and transportation worlds who deal with much harsher conditions.”
The new video encoder is designed specifically to withstand tough environments and complies with the American NEMA TS-2 standard for temperature, vibration and shock. AXIS Q7424-R supports operating temperatures of -40° F to 167° F.
AXIS Q7424-R provides powerful event management capabilities with embedded intelligent video features including camera tampering alarm, motion detection and audio detection, in addition to support for 3rd party applications running on one video channel via the AXIS Camera Application Platform. The video encoder also includes pan, tilt and zoom support, enabling control of analog PTZ cameras. For even more network interface flexibility, AXIS Q7424-R can be used together with the AXIS T8604 Media Converter Switch, providing two SFP slots and two Ethernet ports.
AXIS Q7424-R is supported by AXIS Camera Station video management software as well as the industry’s largest base of application software through Axis’ Application Development Partner program. The video encoder also supports the ONVIF specification for interoperability of network video products.
AXIS Q7424-R Video Encoder and AXIS T8604 Media Converter Switch are expected to be available to order in March 2012. AXIS Q7424-R Video Encoder will have the suggested retail price of $1,199.
