Industry analyst firm Gartner Inc. has positioned Verizon in the Leaders quadrant in a new report,"Magic Quadrant for U.S. Telecommunications Service Providers."
"Verizon's high-IQ wireless and IP networks are creating connections that spark innovation for businesses and consumers around the globe," said Mike Lanman, global president of sales for Verizon Enterprise Solutions. "Our aggressive LTE rollout to more than 180 markets and the opening of our two LTE innovation centers this year have set a new standard for our customers. Whether employing machine-to-machine technology to transmit emergency information, improve health care or advance smart energy solutions, Verizon's world-class, network-based services are playing a central role and transforming how business gets done and how people connect and live."
Positioning in the Leaders quadrant reflects the ability to execute and completeness of vision. According to Gartner's report, which examined nine U.S. service providers: "Leaders have a full portfolio of voice and data products across wired and wireless technologies, with frequent offerings of combined services, coupled with average to above-average service and support, focused enterprise investment, strong sales support, competitive pricing. They lead the market in terms of technology adoption, partnerships and on-time launches. Leaders have a strong vision that includes internal and external innovation, an eye on joint ventures and partnerships, and the ability to deliver a consistent product and message."
According to Gartner, key network trends in 2011 included globalization, ongoing cost optimization, hybrid designs for routing public and private Internet traffic, and emergence of session initiation protocol (SIP) trunking for improved functionality and economies of scale.
