St Albans, Herts, United Kingdom, 2011/11/21 - goFLUENT, a leading provider of distance English training, has been named among the shortlisted entries in two categories of the 2012 Learning Awards, which are due to be presented at The Dorchester Hotel, Park Lane, London on 2nd February 2012.
Along with its client – the pharmaceutical giant - Eli Lilly, goFLUENT has been shortlisted in Training Department of the Year and Staff Development Programme of the Year categories in the 2012 Learning Awards. The Awards are presented by The Learning and Performance Institute (formerly the Institute of IT Training), which announced a record number of entries for these Awards – some 50% up on the number of entries for last year’s Awards.
Eli Lilly, based in Indianapolis, Indiana, in the USA, is the world’s tenth largest pharmaceutical company. Founded in 1876, it employs over 38,000 people; now has a corporate presence in 45 countries, and its products are sold in 170 countries. Ranked 113th in the Fortune 500 companies in 2010, its annual turnover is over $23bn.
Eli Lilly needed to find a single provider whose training materials could be implemented in several countries while ensuring a measurable return on investment (ROI) in those training materials. The company chose goFLUENT’s distance learning English materials and, currently, over 700 learners in 20 countries have access to these products and services – to which they’ve given a 97 per cent satisfaction rating.
Carla Costa, Global Learning and Development, Europe and South America, Eli Lilly, has commented: “goFLUENT is effective, efficient, innovative but, most of all, a very good partner for us.”
Christophe Ferrandou, CEO of goFLUENT, said: “We’re delighted that our language learning philosophy has been recognised in this way.
“goFLUENT has simplified providing individual, personalised tuition in the English language to Eli Lilly employees across 20 countries and across various levels – both in terms of competence in English and position within the company.
“No other provider of language learning materials uses the same combination of e-learning, individualised telephone-based (distance learning) training/ coaching, and written English training as goFLUENT does. We believe that our approach is truly innovative and makes extensive use of learning technology to deliver highly effective and consistent Business English language learning to learners around the world, from different cultures, backgrounds and industrial contexts.”
Those using goFLUENT’s distance learning materials receive consistent written feedback, as well as individual coaching, to enable them to develop linguistic confidence and correct grammar. Additionally, learners have access to e-learning resources from AFP, the New York Times, and Harvard Business Review.
According to Ferrandou, the need for distance learning has grown in recent years as companies which operate globally have adopted the policy of using English to communicate both internally and with their customers, anywhere in the world. goFLUENT, with its blend of e-learning, customised content, written coaching and telephone lessons can meet this need by providing a consistent and efficient learning experience.
