First To File®, the world’s leading IP document management company, announced today that prominent, international patent and trademark law firm Young & Thompson has implemented its Electronic File Room™ (EFR™) Trademarks Module (EFR-TM). Young & Thompson had already implemented EFR’s Patent Module with great success, so they were quick to adopt EFR-TM, which was launched in May 2011. First To File demonstrates its technology at the ALA 2011 Intellectual Property Retreat in Washington, DC which continues today.
EFR-TM is a web-based software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution that organizes all trademark documents into electronic files, and provides a platform for automation, electronic workflow, sharing, and ease of information management. EFR-TM integrates seamlessly with customers’ existing docketing systems as well as with an increasing number of global trademark offices.
Chris Sale, Director of Administration at Young & Thompson, notes,“Since we first discovered First To File’s Electronic File Room, I have been a strong advocate for adopting their technology here at Young & Thompson. Our installation of the Patents module has been extremely successful, leading to increased revenue, reduced expenses, better employee retention rates and improved quality of life for our attorneys. Our trademarks group eagerly anticipated the release of EFR-TM because they knew it would provide significant improvements to their workflow through a fully digitized, automated and web-based platform. We are in the process of implementing the Trademarks module now, and we are certain it will allow Young & Thompson to realize true, lasting benefits for our practice, just as the Patents module had done.”
EFR-TM features include:
• Easy organization and management of visual marks.
• Consolidation and intelligent display of search results from global trademark databases including:
o WIPO’s ROMARIN (Read-Only-Memory of Madrid Active Registry INformation)
o USPTO’s TESS (the Trademark Electronic Search System)
o TARR (the Trademark Applications and Registration Retrieval system)
• Management and automation of associations between trademarks and users’ Internet domains, products, and patents.
• Ability to integrate with First To File’s Workflow Management Module and Agent Access Portal
First To File CEO James P. Bergeron notes,“Today’s IP firms and corporations are faced with a challenging proposition – to prosecute patents and trademarks faster, more efficiently and at a reduced cost – without reducing service to clients. First To File’s product suite, including our Patent and Trademarks Module, provides modern, IP focused technology, allowing them to cut costs, streamline operations and improve their resulting work product. We are extremely proud that Young & Thompson has chosen to expand its use of First To File to include its trademarks group, and we look forward to their implementing EFR for TM with great success.”
