ATTO Technology, Inc. and NetApp today announced their latest collaboration. This new solution provides extreme media file ingest and playback performance. It combines the new NetApp Media Content Management solution and ATTO Celerity Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters (HBAs) with Multipath Director™ technology and is available for Mac OS® X, Windows® and Linux operating systems.
The Media Content Management solution provides a highly scalable digital repository enabling media operations to consolidate collaborative production and multi-format distribution workflows for greater efficiency. When paired with ATTO HBAs, high-bitrate uncompressed editing workgroups can be fully integrated into general facility workflows. This connectivity solution is certified by NetApp and featured in the online NetApp Interoperability Matrix.
In recent ATTO Celerity testing, the NetApp Media Content Management solution outperformed all previously tested storage subsystems. New benchmarks were set across several media industry test regimens including the number of uncompressed HD video streams simultaneously supported for Final Cut Pro® editors. With four Macintosh® clients running Final Cut Pro 7, the NetApp Media Content Management solution played back 22 uncompressed HD (1920 x 1080, 10-bit YUV) video streams overnight without dropping any frames.
Media and entertainment professionals demand high-performance, highly-available storage to maximize their collaborative workflows. The combination of ATTO Fibre Channel HBAs and NetApp’s E5460 storage system provides the infrastructure needed for content developers and video professionals to ingest, produce, process, archive and deliver data with the flexibility to scale performance and capacity.
